Spanish Choir Ireland was founded in 2019 by Dónal Kearney as a platform to fuse the dual passions of singing and the Spanish language. It rehearses in Club na Múinteoirí in Dublin city centre on Monday evenings.

Members of Coro Español Irlanda rehearse 99% through the Spanish language and all songs in their repertoire come from the profoundly rich world of Spanish-language song. Songs range from Cuban rumba to Argentinian rock'n'roll, from traditional Californian songs to the majestic pop of Enrique Iglesias, from Gregorian chant to Sephardic folk songs. And everything in-between!

The benefits of speaking another language are countless, but here are just a few:

  1. Improving your Spanish can be very useful for your chosen career

  2. Having conversational Spanish opens lots of doors when visiting Spain as a tourist

  3. Another language staves off the effects of brain disease (National Geographic, February 2011)

  4. Speaking a language builds confidence - learning is hard, but improvement is inevitable!

  5. Language is inherently social - it's all about meeting new people!

The benefits of singing are well known, but here's a few key points:

  1. Singing together reduces feelings of loneliness and builds community

  2. The act of singing strengthens the immune system (National Center for Biotechnological Information)

  3. Singing produces endorphins and oxytocin, and reduces stress and depression (TIME magazine, 2016)

  4. Singing fosters cooperation and teamwork (American Psychological Association)

  5. Singing is an artistic and creative outlet
