Podcast Episode 15 - Carl Corcoran

The IIMS podcast brings you the latest ideas in music from all over the world.

The Irish Institute of Music & Song (IIMS) podcast hosts conversations with performers, academics and educators from all over the world. The podcast is curated by Dónal Kearney in Dublin, Ireland.

In our IIMS Song Series, we speak to composers, songwriters and singers about their lifelong affair with song.

In episode 15, we are thrilled to have Carl Corcoran as our very first guest on the IIMS Song Series.

Carl Corcoran has worked across all sectors of the music industry - composition, performance, publishing, broadcasting, event management, production and promotion. Carl is a passionate advocate of the Arts in Ireland and is committed to supporting and promoting Irish artists at home and abroad.

Since September 2017, he has acted as Course Director of the Master's in Songwriting at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick. In October 2019, he was invited to join the Board of Music Network, Ireland.

In this episode, Carl tells Dónal about his childhood songwriting experiences, his relationship with major label EMI, his life as a musician in America and his profound commitment to music in Ireland over the last decade.

In episode 16, we will be speaking to Lesley Roy in the second of our Song Series guests. Balbriggan-born Lesley was Ireland's representative at the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest with her original song "Story of My Life".

In episode 17, we welcome County Tyrone's Fra Fee, star of Broadway and the West End who featured alongside Hugh Jackman and Helena Bonham Carter in Tom Hooper's 2012 feature-length musical film of "Les Miserables".
