EY Choir sings in National Stadium
The singers of EY have had a busy weeks. After performing live on the Ray D'Arcy Show last weekend, a select group from EY Choir Ireland took to the National Stadium, a 2,000 seater boxing venue in Dublin on Saturday 2 November 2019.
The event was Aidlink for Turkana, a fundraiser for the most isolated and marginalised people in Africa - the Turkana in northern Kenya.
"It was so amazing tonight!" (EY Choir singer)
The singers from EY Choir were joined by Ultan Conlon, a musician from Galway. They performed an arrangement of Ultan's song "Really Gone" by Fingal Academy of Music's Eoin Conway.
EY Choir also performed a rendition of "Heyday" by Irish songwriter Mic Christopher. They performed with hundreds of other singers from all over Ireland.
EY Choir Director, Michael T. Dawson, worked the singers hard to prepare them for a challenging live setting. Over a thousand people were in the audience and there was a huge team of technical staff working in the background. Under time pressures and staging constraints, the EY team really pulled together and put on a great performance.
"I was super impressed with the EY singers. Their focus and hard work made working with Ultan so easy since we only got to rehearse with him on the day of the performance." (Michael T. Dawson)
Although there was a lot of waiting around, as is always the way with these huge live events, the singers all reported having had a great time. Meeting Ultan, a professional musician, was so positive that it inspired one of EY singers to record his own version of song.
Roven, one of the newer members of EY Choir, uploaded a gorgeous cover to his Facebook page, which you can watch at this link.
"It was an unreal experience." (EY Choir singer)
EY Choir Ireland continues to go from strength to strength. It seems nothing fazes them. This is a testament to their talent, their ambition and their willingness to learn under pressure - all factors of a great musical ensemble and a great team!
Well done to all involved in making EY Choir happen every week, including the music team of Michael Fay, Eoin Conway and Michael T. Dawson.
